Hello ROH Community,

Ring of Hope held our annual fundraiser “Night to Fight 2020” at the Toyota Music Factory on March 7, 2020. Our event premiered on CBS this year with a cast of boxing legends (Evander Holyfield, Freddie Roach) and Paulie Malignaggi calling the action live from ringside. It was a special night for our community as we announced the planned opening of our newest club, ROH Oak Cliff. Certainly, a proud moment for me as I watched our sponsors experience a very personal ‘thank-you’ from Ring Of Hope students standing proudly in brave blue jackets. Proud Ring Of Hope students, from the opposite ends of Dallas, standing together has one community. Our future.

No more than 72 hours later America moved to a state of emergency due to COVID-19. Following the CDC guidelines, we immediately closed our club doors. In rapid response, Ring Of Hope leaders brainstormed and developed a way to keep our community together through this pandemic.

Leveraging existing social media platforms, our students and their families joined our leadership for a nightly devotional and boxing workout. In addition, student groups were assigned to ROH leaders for a weekly ‘check-in’ call to identify any needs the families might be experiencing during this difficult time. Local businesses and philanthropists did more than just contribute, they got involved. Some sent jump ropes, hand wraps and boxing gloves to share with our students while others provided meals and essentials to families in need.

Two weeks ago, we began the process of reopening our clubs. With an abundance of caution, all our students are now able to return to their ROH community a couple nights each week. Slowly, carefully, we will fully restore the community each student holds so dear. Thank you for your continued support of our mission.

We found a way. We continue as one community.  We are Ring of Hope.
